Tron: Identity is an adventure visual novel. It's set in a virtual universe known from the iconic movie "Tron" from 1982 and its sequel. The game was developed by Bithell Games, also known for Thomas Was Alone and John Wick Hex.
The game takes place in a network that has been operating standalone for the past twenty years. Abandoned by its creator, devoid of user interference, it evolved, creating a living civilization. Its future comes into question, however, when someone steals their data from the Repository.
The detective program Query is tasked with investigating the case, finding out what exactly was stolen and by whom. To do so, the protagonist must discover the secrets of the other residents of the network. One of them is the rebellious Proxy - a female program living outside the established hierarchy.
Tron: Identity heavily emphasizes dialogue. During each conversation there are several options to choose from, which direct the story along different paths. They can lead to clues, reveal secrets or make NPCs hostile to us. This is how we build relationships with other programs - by gathering allies and enemies. We can bring about permanent changes in the virtual world and even erase some of its residents.
The second most important aspect of the game are puzzles, including the so-called identity drives. These hide the greatest secrets of the network's programs and are the key to solving the mystery. Before we can pry into the privacy of Query's neighbors, however, we must first solve a puzzle.
