WWW Video Games

Actually, browser games are part of the PC games category, but playing in a web browser make them so different that they deserve to be classified as an entirely separate kind of games. Most of the browser games are simple massive multiplayer online titles with poor graphics and many social options. However, there are exceptions to this rule.

Might & Magic: Heroes Online is a browser game and a part of the highly popular strategic game franchise created in 1995 by Jon van Caneghem and New World Computing. The game was developed by Blue Byte Software, creators of The Settlers saga, responsible for the browser versions of various popular games (i.e. The Settlers, Anno, or Silent Hunter). In terms of the plot, Heroes Online continues the story from the last two big games of the series. In the fantasy world of Ashan, two opposing factions fight for power. Each of them has an army made of skilled warriors of different races and classes. There are two basic aspects to the gameplay: real time world exploration, where we also gather resources and recruit our army, and the turn-based tactical battles that take place on hexagonal battlefields. Unlike the other browser games, Might & Magic: Heroes Online's visuals are on rather high level, and not far behind what can be seen in the series' main games.

Strategy 08 April 2015

A browser MMO strategy game from the creators of Tribal Wars. In Elvenar the player joins one of two sides of conflict: humans or elves, and strives to build a prospering metropolis. Each of the two races uses different technologies and offers unique architecture, units, and a bit different gameplay philosophy. For example, elves live in harmony with nature, practice magic and coexist with other fantasy creatures, whereas humans are more of ambitious engineers, who use medieval weapons and technology. The foundation of gameplay is to provide your settlement with wealth and security as well as transform it into a big metropolis. To this end you have to produce food and collect resources, expand buildings, and recruit a strong army that would fight your battles and allow you to explore new territories. In Elvenar you can focus on story-based campaign missions or interact with other players: establish alliances, trade or wage wars with them. Battles are fought in a turn-based system on hexagonal fields. Elvenar stands out from similar games with impressive 3D visuals and high-quality graphics.

A web-based MMO role-playing game based on the popular manga universe created by Masashi Kishimoto. Naruto Online was developed jointly by Chinese studio More Fun and the CyberConnect 2 team, also known from the majority of the stand-alone games in the franchise. The game takes place in the world, where elements of the medieval Japan are combined with modern technology, and you play as ninja warriors, who represent selected villages from this universe. Apart from the perfect training, specialist equipment, and unique combat techniques, they all share the ability of using the so-called chakra energy to use special attacks. The mechanics are typical for Asian MMORPG productions, allowing you to play on your own in the PvE mode, where you do a series of story quests, while the visuals are based on those of other Naruto games and comics.

Arcade 25 March 2016

Co-developed by Steve Howse and Thorntree Studios, an arcade game resembling the popular mobile and browser hit Agar.io. During the game you are in control of a small snake which grows by eating bright points. Apart from yours, there are other snakes on the map and in order to win, you have to eat what remains of the bigger ones. The only problem is that they die only if they touch other creatures with their heads, so your objective is to maneuver your snake in a way that will make others run into you. This can be achieved with a number of techniques. There is no final purpose to the game, so you can play till the Earth stops turning. Similarly to the aforementioned production by M28 studio, Slither.io features minimalistic visuals. Even though they are simple, they still can give an ample scope for showing your brains and skill.
