Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord: How to get charcoal?

Charcoal in Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord is an important ingredient used for smithing. It allows you to create new weapons. Charcoal cannot be bought - so it's worth learning how to get it (especially since there is a very simple way to do it). This page of our guide explains how to get Charcoal in Bannerlord.

How do I get Charcoal?

Buy Hardwood raw material.

Unfortunately, you can't buy the Charcoal ingredient directly from the traders. In return, you can buy Hardwood and then convert it into Charcoal. The Hardwood raw material is sold by various merchants (in town or village), but the best price you can get is when you visit a village that specializes in this raw material.

Then transform it into Charcoal.

Once you have some Hardwood you can go to a forge in any town. You can convert two Hardwood pieces into one Charcoal - just open the Refine tab. This way you can get a lot of Charcoal in M&B 2 Bannerlord.
