At the end of July last year, Blizzard veterans released Stormgate. However, the spiritual successor to StarCraft didn't get a very good reception from players in early access. Now, after almost a year of development, Frost Giant Games studio has announced that it is ready for the release of the full version.

  1. Stormgate will leave early access on August 5th.
  2. The title is and will remain available in the free-to-play model on Steam.

Anticipated campaign is already ready

Along with the full version, the first campaign of Stormgate: Ashes of Earth will launch, and it will have 12 missions. They'll present the full story, but the devs are planning to expand it in the future with extra, free missions.

Moreover, players will receive a fully 1v1 mode, which is the most refined and key element of the game. Frost Giant also confirmed that all units in the game are completed, although they will, of course, continue to be balanced.

After a year of progress with the help of our community's feedback, we believe that our campaign and 1v1 are ready for a broader audience. We will obviously continue to incorporate feedback on these modes moving forward, but we feel that these modes are at a point where players at large can enjoy them.

Other modes, like cooperative missions and the editor, will be available in Sigma Labs, a platform for testing new features. In time, when they are properly refined, they will appear in the full version of the game. The 3 on 3 mode will be added in the upcoming update, which is set to be released in the fall.

If you have played Stormgate before, you should know that all your progress made in early access will be transferred to the full version of the game. We'll only need to redistribute the reward points earned in previous campaign versions.

Stormgate currently has over 7,500 reviews on Steam, but only 50% of them are positive. We can only hope that the upcoming update will be received by players a bit warmer than the launch in early access.
