In a little over a month, we will see the launch of a new game by FromSoftware, the studio responsible for, among other things, the award-winning Elden Ring. However, it is not another soulslike, but a third-person shooter with mechs - Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. The developers have released a several-minute story trailer of the game- available below.
Incredibly atmospheric and exquisitely crafted CGI footage rather vaguely - as is usually the case with FromSoftware - presents the events preceding the plot of Fires of Rubicon. The developers want to make it clear that the planet Rubicon 3, where the action of the title will take place, is a very dangerous place. Even more so when the trader Walter enters the game.
The trailer shows as more units engage in spectacular battles, and then suddenly their signal is lost. The last mech brought to "life" is the one numbered 621, which apparently will be controlled by us, the players.
Recall that in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon the main character is drawn into a war of corporations that want to take control of a mysterious substance. Decades before the events of the game, it led to a disaster on the planet Rubicon 3.
If you want to see a bit of gameplay footage from Fires of Rubicon, I refer you to this news item. The game will be available for testing during the August gamescom 2023.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will debut on August 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
