In the middle of last month, we saw the launch of BattleBit Remastered. On Steam, the developers published a summary of the first two weeks on the market. This period proved to be very intense.

Problems with servers

The first week was excellent - the game reached the top of the Steam bestseller list. On top of that, the developers managed to avoid server problems, so they could concentrate on improving the technical layer and working on new content. The trouble started later.

  1. The second week was the opposite of the first. All because of DDoS attacks. These had occurred before, but the developers were able to deal with them. But then the hackers found vulnerabilities in the game's systems, which made their attacks much more effective.
  2. As a result, the servers stopped working properly and the matchmaking system broke down. Players were, for example, informed that they were in the 900th place in the game queue.
  3. Hackers were particularly malicious. They took a particular liking to attacks on those servers where popular youtubers and streamers were playing, in order to harm the promotion of the game.
  4. The developers had to temporarily suspend development of BattleBit Remastered, in order to be able to concentrate fully on patching the vulnerabilities that made these attacks possible.
  5. The vulnerabilities have fortunately been patched and the servers are working properly again.

Players have proved to be understanding. Despite the problems, the game has 91% positive reviews on Steam. The attacks also did not hurt the popularity of BattleBit Remastered. Yesterday, at the hottest moment of the day, the game was played by almost 81 thousand people at the same time, which is only slightly less than the overall activity record for this title (87 thousand).

Plans for the future

After dealing with the attacks, the developers returned to work on the game. They informed what they have in store.

  1. They are working on bug fixes and changes that will make the gameplay more enjoyable.
  2. Currently, the developers are increasing the size of the team specializing in fighting cheaters.
  3. They also plan to add new weapons, gadgets, maps and improvements to existing levels.
  4. The game will gain new gameplay modes.
  5. The developers want to introduce community-managed servers - with their own game modes, maps and customized game mode rules based on administrator preferences.
  6. In addition, the developers have pledged to update players every Saturday on progress and other things related to the game.

BattleBit Remastered is available exclusively on PC. The game can be found in Steam Early Access, where it can be purchased for $15. The developers plan for the title to come out of early access in about two years.
