Battlefield 2042 Beta Will Sport Anti-cheat; DICE Doesn't Want a Call of Duty Repetition

DICE announced that they don't anticipate sending out any warnings for cheaters in Battlefield 2042. If someone plays dirty, they'll just get thrown out.

There is not much time left until the release of Battlefield 2042, and the open beta will start soon. According to the announcement, the creators will enforce penalties for cheaters with Easy Anti-Cheat from the beginning of testing. As we can read on the game's official blog, the reporting system has been improved and the rules of "positive play" have been clearly defined.

The rules, which players should follow, do not concern only the prohibition of software that interferes with the game's code. DICE has also placed an emphasis on good atmosphere in online gamesThat's why the list of reporting options includes, among others, sabotaging the game or harassment. Additionally, reporting will now be available during gameplay, making it even easier to catch undesirable behavior. Below is a list of prohibited activities:

  • Using cheats / exploits;
  • Voice chat abuse;
  • Text chat abuse;
  • Sabotaging the game;
  • Offensive nicknames;
  • Harassment.

In the case of voice chat abuse, the option to mute a hyperactive player can be useful. However, if his behavior is very disruptive, the only solution will be to report such a delinquent. EA will also provide an option to add a comment to the report, which will make it easier to decide whether or not to ban the player. As for the text chat, it will have an offensive word filter that cannot be turned off.

Regarding players who use software such as aim-bots or wall-hacks, it should be simple - using such "helpful solutions" will be tantamount to a permanent ban.. What's more, the punishment will not apply only to one version of the game - it will apply to the cheater's entire account, on all hardware platforms. This means that if such a player (let's assume that he cheated on PC) will want, for example, to shoot through walls again on Xbox, it will be impossible.

Apart from rules which may result in ban there are also those, which should function in the community as a kind of unwritten agreement.

  • Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself - play as a team. There is no tolerance for players who negatively affect their allies;
  • Play fair - fight on the good side. If someone is cheating, report it;
  • Share relevant content - don't play dirty. Make sure what you share is appropriate for Battlefield;
  • Behave honorably - protect your team. Don't undertake illegal actions, or encourage your allies to do so.

Another important point is that Easy Anti-Cheat will be up and running beginning with the beta version of the game, which will be available for players from October 6 to October 9 . It's fair to say that EA has taken it upon themselves to do some community fixing, and this time they're using methods that are broader than just fighting cheaters that are likely to appear in the game anyway.

However, what sets BF 2042 apart from cheater-infested games like Warzone and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, is that you'll have to buy the game, and most cheaters aren't going to spend extra money just to make someone's life miserable (though looking at the events during the Call of Duty Vanguard open beta, one could be wrong).

The release of Battlefield 2042 will take place on November 19.
