We have learned that patch 4.0 for Battlefield 2042 will finally debut next week. The game's condition is getting worse and worse, so the update may prove to be crucial for the future of the title.
DICE announced that next week will see the debut of the highly anticipated update 4.0 for Battlefield 2042.
The full patch notes will be published early next week. However, a few details have already been revealed:

It's no secret that Battlefield 2042 was a disaster. The game's launch was so bad that the devs had to put aside their development plans and focus on fixing the basic problems.
The game's condition is best reflected by data from Steam. The number of concurrent users playing BF2042 has recently begun dropping below 1000 people. Yesterday's activity record was only 1608 players. For comparison in the case of Battlefield V it was 17,816 people, and in Battlefield 1 - more than 7,000. On April 13, even the old Battlefield 4 fared better, with 2,047 concurrent players.
The already dismal reception of BF2042 continues to degrade. On Steam, only 28% of all player reviews praise the title, which is categorized as a "mostly negative" reception. The share of positive notes from the last 30 days, however, is much worse at only 18%, which would amount to an "overwhelmingly negative" reception.
The increasingly worse ratings and falling number of players leave no illusions about the game's confition. If the devs want to save their creation, something must change quickly, and therefore patch 4.0 may prove to be crucial for the future of the game. If the changes introduced in it do not renew interest in Battlefield 2042 then the fate of the project will be sealed.
