According to new leaks, the failure of Battlefield 2042 has forced major changes in the brand's development plans. The result is expected to be the abandonment of many of the failed ideas and a return to the roots with the next installment.
Unexpectedly Battlefield 2042 has turned out to be one of the biggest failures of last year. Renowned leaker Tom Handerson shared an article with reports on how this flop will affect the future of the game and the brand as a whole.
Until this information is officially confirmed, it should be taken with a grain of salt, but Henderson has a very good reputation, especially when it comes to this particular brand. He claims that:
Henderson has not received confirmation on what elements are involved, but he speculates that the next installment may lack 128-player matches and specialists.
If the information is true, this is a drastic change in the brand's development strategy. Originally BF2042 was supposed to be the foundation on which the future of the series would be built. There were even reports that the next part will be a hero shooter. Now it seems that the plan is instead to return to more classic solutions.
At the same time, Electronic Arts intends to further develop and improve Battlefield 2042 despite its poor financial results.
