Just under a month ago, industry media was struck by the news of the resignation of the director of the story campaign for Battlefield 7, Marcus Lehto. Although at first, the dev was unwilling to disclose the reasons for leaving the Seattle branch of Electronic Arts' Ridgeline Games studio, he has now chosen to provide some insight into the matter.

In a post published on the X, the developer made it clear that cooperation with EA was far from perfect. Lehto also made sure to mention the wave of layoffs in the industry, which also impacted his team.

Not been saying much here since I don't have anything positive to say about EA, my recent departure, and how so many, including my team, are suffering due to the industry sweeping layoffs -- reads the content of the post.

Just a few days after the media found out about Lehto's departure from Electronic Arts, the company announced a restructuring, leading to the dismissal of around 670 employees (5% of the staff). Unfortunately, the cost-cutting measures led to the closure of the previously mentioned Ridgeline Games studio, which was in charge of the story campaign for Battlefield 7.

Industry journalist Tom Henderson also commented on the current situation of this shooter. He stated that "at first glance, the next Battlefield game seems "safe" and "predictable."
