Beat the heat or bring it in REV UP, a strategic street racer set in a neon-soaked open world
If you loved Burnout & NFS Underground, this might be your thing. REV UP is more than just fast cars.

I’m always on the lookout for interesting indie games, and here’s my latest discovery: REV UP, developed by Chonky Frog Studio. It perfectly channels those early 2000s arcade racing vibes, mixing high-speed chases with stealthy gameplay, all set in a slick cyberpunk metropolis.
Catch me if you can
REV UP is a multiplayer game that’s all about cops versus racers. Instead of following a boring set track, we can choose to hide and make a getaway through an open world city, or play as a cop using equipment and teamwork to track down those rebellious street drivers.
As a street racer (which I’m pretty sure will be everyone’s go-to first choice) we’ll need more than just speed to lose the law enforcement. We can really get creative here, by blending into regular traffic to stay under the radar, or even park with our engine off and hope they don’t spot us. And of course, sneaking through back alleys and hidden routes around the city is key to shaking off any patrols on our tail.
But on the other hand, playing as the boys in blue sounds pretty exciting too – hunting down those punks tearing through the city and disturbing the peace. We’ll definitely have the gear to get the job done.
We can use speed cameras scattered around town to track them and figure out where they’re headed. When we’re in a chase, we can deploy spike strips at just the right moment to take out their tires and turn the tables. And we can’t forget: teamwork makes the dream work. Coordinating with other cops to flank, set traps, and outsmart those troublemakers is the winning formula.
In REV UP, we can customize our car with performance upgrades and styles that suit our play. We can go sleek and low-key or bold and flashy. Eye-catching rides earn bonuses but naturally attract more cop attention. There’ll be even solo mode where we can explore the city and discover every nook and cranny.
The dev team took inspiration from titles like Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed: Underground 2, Jet Set Radio, and Auto Modellista. So, if you’re into arcade racers but want something with a bit more strategy and personality, REV UP is definitely worth keeping an eye on. There’s no release date yet, but we can Wishlist the game on Steam.
