Beyond Good and Evil 2 Slipping Away; Worrying News

Beyond Good & Evil 2 already holds the record for the longest-developed single-player game, and the latest leaks suggest that Ubisoft is looking to solidify the title as the leader.

Announcement of Beyond Good & Evil 2 was supposed to herald the end of the long wait for the sequel to one of the most underrated games of all time (at least in popular opinion). Meanwhile, more than 5 years later the second Beyond Good & Evil is still supposed to be in the early stages of work.

The news was reported by Tom Henderson, who has repeatedly provided reliable information from the game industry. He did so in an article published on Insider Gaming. Back in August, Henderson reported that the game was at least two years away from release, although the title had already gone into testing, including outside of the studio.

Now the insider's sources have reported that testing is continuing, but according to some people, Ubisoft was said to be stressing that Beyond Good & Evil 2 still hasn't moved beyond the early stages of development.

Insider Gaming has also obtained the materials (the publication of which banned to preserve the anonymity of the sources, obviously) and, according to Henderson, one can judge from them that since the pre-alpha presentation of 2018 the developers have restarted work on the game from scratch.

The footage is said to show "naked planets" with angular structures instead of most buildings or structures lacking only details. Only spaceship presented a level close to what the last gameplay showed.

Therefore, Henderson predicts that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will debut only a few years from now. This does not fill us with optimism, especially since already in October the game broke the infamous record belonging to Duke Nukem Forever, which can hardly be considered a title worth waiting 14 years for.

When asked by Insder Gaming for comment, Ubisoft limited itself to assuring that the developers are "working hard to fulfill their ambitious promises."
