RTX Portal received an exact release date. We also learned the system requirements, and soon the results of a contest in which three RTX 40 series cards are up for grabs will be announced.
Announced in September, the refreshed version of Portal received a release date and detailed system requirements. On this occasion, Nvidia invites all fans of the series to the launch event.
Thanks to official information from Nvidia we know that the launch of RTX Portal will take place on December 8, with a few days delay compared to the studio's original plans. The new content is being treated as a free DLC for owners of the original Portal (it can be added to your wish list on Steam). The title is also expected to hit the GeForce NOW.
The remastered version will make use of ray tracing to generate realistic reflections and shadows. The game will also receive support for DLSS 3 for GeForce RT 40XX family cards, which - according to Nvidia - should provide as much as a 2.8-fold increase in frame rate compared to the old version (DLSS 2) available for RT 30-series GPUs. In addition, the title will receive reworked models and higher-resolution textures.
The developers also published the system requirements of RTX Portal. They are high and look as follows:
64-bit Windows 10/11 is recommended for proper operation, as well as an SSD drive.
On December 6 at 10 am PT, Nvidia will hold an inaugural stream on Twitch and Steam. The company will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the game's development, show some gameplay footage, hand out free codes for the game and settle a contest, in which one RTX 4090 and two RTX 4080 Founders Edition GPUs are up for grabs.
For a chance to win one of the three graphics cards, follow Nvidia's official profiles (on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook) and add Portal with RTX to your wish list on Steam. It is then required to take a screenshot (with the game's addition to the wish list visible), then share it on social media with the hashtag #PortalRTX.
