More Than 100,000 People Want Refunds for Battlefield 2042 [UPDATED]

Disappointment with Battlefield 2042 seems endless. Not only are both gamers and content creators are abandoning the game en masse, a petition has launched, with the help of which disgruntled fans of EA's series are demanding refunds.

100 thousand angry players

• The petition for refunds appeared on Change.org a few weeks ago, but a surge of interest in it occurred recently when the issue was made public by Tom Henderson. At this point, nearly 118,000 players have signed the document.

• The creator of the petition announced that he will take legal action the moment the number of signatures reaches 50 thousand. This amount has been exceeded more than twice at this point, so we can expect action from the disgruntled gaming community.

Is there another way to apply for a refund?

• A petition is nice, sure, but there are also other ways to request a refund for a purchased game, depending on the platform. Sony and Microsoft offer the opportunity to refund within two weeks of purchase, but there is a catch - in the case of PlayStation, the chance is lost once the download begins, unless we are dealing with a clearly "defective" product.
• Xbox players can expect a refund if they "have not accumulated a significant amount of time spent playing the game." In the case of Steam (which the petition mainly refers to), the policy is clear: money can be returned to the player if they haven't had the game running for more than two hours and it's not in their library for more than two weeks.

What's next for BF 2042?

EA's problems with the latest installment of the well-known series seem to have no end. Last week, the company admitted that BF 2042 failed to live up to expectations, both quality wise and in terms of sales. There are rumors that the game may switch to free-to-play model.. Perhaps such a move would be able to save the dying game.
