Black Book Launches Next Month

The release of Black Book, the Slavic RPG from Morteshka, is coming soon. We'll be able to play the full version in August.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Black Book will debut on August 10 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch;
  • It is an RPG by Morteshka that will take players to 19th-century Russia.
  • The game will cost $24.99.

Fans of Slavic climates and the RPG genre can rub their hands in glee. The developers from the Russian studio Morteshka announced the release date of their new production. The full version of Black Book will be available on August 10. The game will appear on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch.

This is the second title in the portfolio of the devs. In Black Book they take the players to the 19th-century Russia filled with mysterious creatures inspired by the local folklore. We take on the role of a young girl named Vasilisa. Her destiny was to become a witch, but she rejected her fate and decided to get involved with her beloved man. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards, the man died in mysterious circumstances - that's when the heroine decided to search for the eponymous book. It has the power to fulfill any wish.

The creators assure that an engaging story awaits the players, providing about 20 hours of gameplay. They also boasted that the dialogues available in the game consist of as many as 150 thousand words. So we can't complain about a too short scenario. What is interesting, during the development of the game efforts were made to replicate the appearance of the locations we visit. The city of Perm, in the vicinity of which the action is set, was recreated based on old maps from the local museum.

It was also revealed that the game will cost 24.99 dollars. However, those who purchase the production during the week of release, can expect a 15% discount. Unsure players, on the other hand, can try out the demo version, containing a prologue. Thanks to it we can see how the main character gains her magical powers.
