Bloober Team Denies New Rumors about Silent Hill

Polish studio Bloober Team denies new rumors concerning the concept of the next Silent Hill game.

Ever since it was revealed that Konami signed a deal with Bloober Team - a Polish studio known for its horror games - it seems almost certain that we're in for another Silent Hill game. Since then, fans have been looking for any clues that would confirm their speculations. Creative Europe found three descriptions of the studio's new projects, however, Bloober Team denies that they are related to the rumors circulating on the web (and, by implication, to the new Silent Hill).

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Recently we learned that Konami signed a cooperation deal with the Polish studio Bloober Team;
  • On the page informing about the awarded European funds, players found descriptions of three projects of the studio - there were speculations that they may be related to the new Silent Hill;
  • A representative of Bloober Team denied all rumors and stated that the information discovered is largely outdated.

The three descriptions of the studio's projects found on the EU grant funding page are: H2O, which turned into the next installment of Layers of Fear, Black (a first-person game about an alien attack on medieval Europe) and Dum Spiro (a horror game set in a ghetto for Polish Jews during World War II). It was the latter two entries that sparked a discussion about the Silent Hill series.

The Medium was warmly received. What will it be like with the studio's next production?

However, in an interview with IGN, Bloober Team's CMO Tomasz Gawlikowski stated that the rumors are false and that the studio is no longer working on the two projects. Dum Spiro was shelved because the developers couldn't find a way to simultaneously present the story with enough sensitivity and turn the game into a viable venture. On the other hand, the developers are still working on a game with the working name Black but it's a completely different project than you can read on the Creative Europe funding page.

Gawlikowski did not comment directly on the matter of the new Silent Hill. He only stated that the studio is working on two big projects, and each of them is bigger than The Medium, the creators' previous game. He added that neither of these games will be based on the themes or premise that have been rumored in recent days.

We can guess that one of these big projects is a game created in cooperation with Konami. However, we will have to wait a bit longer for confirmation.
