Gamescom madness continues. This time good news came to fans of the point-and-click genre. Studio Revolution Software has announced that it is working on the sixth installment of the iconic Broken Sword series, which will be subtitled Parzival's Stone. That's not all, as at the same time the devs announced a remaster (another) of the first installment of the series, Shadow of the Templars, to which the Reforged subtitle has been added - this time in 4K quality.

On the occasion of the announcement, a short trailer for both games has hit the web (available below).

It is worth noting that this trailer presents the sixth Broken Sword in pre-alpha stage. Not surprisingly, Revolution Software was not tempted to give an approximate release date for this title.

The case is different with Shadow of the Templars Reforged - this game is expected to debut early next year.

A bunch of information about Broken Sword: Parzival's Stone

In the latest Broken Sword, players will once again control the actions of George and Nico, who will be drawn into a "terrifying conspiracy" (via Polygon).

  • The plot of the adventure game will revolve around an ancient manuscript that will reveal the location of the Grail.
  • On the way to the treasure the two protagonists will face ruthless businessmen, corrupt government agents or powerful energy corporations.
  • The main place of action will be the town of Montségur located in the south of France.
  • The game is to be presented in the "super 2D" convention, ie. 3D geometry is to be added to the hand-crafted 2D background elements.
  • The game will retain the interface and gameplay style characteristic of the series.

Finally, I will point out that both games are being developed for as yet unspecified consoles, mobile devices and PCs running Windows.
