Players have jumped back into Fields of Mistria after a big update, and it’s no surprise. New locations to visit, a winter Animal Festival to enjoy, new pets, and more! However, for many, the real highlight is Caldarus, now appearing in human form. There’s a special quest to unlock this new NPC, but is he potential marriage material? Let’s find out.
To unlock Caldarus, you'll need to be pretty far in the game. Here’s what to do:
Now you can visit him anytime you want, bring him gifts and make sure he’s getting better.
After completing the Breaking the Final Seal quest, Caldarus will already have a Yellow Heart – the highest affection level you can reach for now. It’s unclear how his story will unfold, but for now, there doesn’t seem to be a fully implemented romance option with him.

Since Caldarus has a heart icon by his name, he’s likely the mysterious 11th love interest hinted at in the game’s trailer. While his horns don’t exactly match those of the unknown figure, the hair outline is strikingly similar. Maybe he’ll lose the horns later or find a way to hide them. We’ll have to wait for the next update to find out.
And still, no Olric as a potential husband... what a waste. No co-op or multiplayer yet either. But hey, the game is still in early access, so fingers crossed that some features well-known from Stardew Valley make their way here too.
Even if you can’t romance him (for now), it’s still good to be prepared. Here’s what he loves:
But whatever you do, don’t give him Unknown Dragon Statuette, he will hate it!

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
