Persona 5 The Phantom X is out worldwide today, which means it’s officially time to say goodbye to my friends and family – because from here on out, all my attention is locked on my phone. And to think I just got rid of my Pokémon TCG Pocket addiction… At least it’s not just about gacha here, just like in the original Persona 5 (and almost all the other games from the franchise) romance is on the table. So let’s see whose hearts we’ll be stealing this time.
Every character you can bond with in Persona 5 X
In Persona 5: The Phantom X, just like in the main games, you’ve got a confidant system where you can build relationships with different characters. You’ll meet plenty of them as you progress through the story. Leveling up each synergy rank isn’t just for show, you’ll unlock way more than just some gems or cosmetic items. You can get new skills, fusions, and more. So yes, it’s worth to take your time (pun intended) and get to know everyone.

As always, you can hang out with them, give them gifts, or take them to new spots to boost your friendship. Once you hit rank 15 you’ll become close friends, and that’s when the romance option might pop up if that character can be dated.

- Motoha Arai – Your best friend, kind of like a female Ryuji in this story.

- Tomoko Noge – One of your school friends.

- Yaoling Li – A Chinese exchange student who’s eager to explore Japan.
But there’s also other characters that you’ll be meeting in the game:
- Merope – The Velvet Room attendant you'll meet at the very start of the game. At rank 17, she will become your exclusive concierge.
- Lufel – Think of him as Morgana’s brother from another mother.
- Kayo Tomiyama – A housewife who really wants to be your friend.
- Yui – Your internet friend.
It’s possible that more characters will be added later, as the Japanese version of Persona 5: Phantom X includes additional ones.
