CD Projekt RED is Not Coming to PAX East 2020

CD Projekt RED informed that it will not appear at PAX East 2020 in Boston. Although no official reason was given, one can guess that the decision was made because of the COVID-19 coronavirus threat. A similar step was taken by PUBG Corporation.

The company is resigning from participation in PAX East 2020.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. CD Projekt RED and PUBG Corporation will not appear at PAX East 2020;
  2. The cause is most likely the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Update: PAX officials contacted us: "Neither company planned a formal presence in the expo hall or with a panel. Any changes in their own internal plans do not impact PAX.”

CD Projekt RED will not appear at PAX East 2020, which will take place in Boston from February 27 to March 1. There is no explanation as to why such a decision was made, but one can guess that it is related to the COVID-19 coronavirus. The information was provided by the head of the company's communication department, Stephanie Bayer.

A similar decision was made by PUBG Corporation, the studio responsible for the battle royale shooter Playerunknown's Battlegrounds.

"We will be rescheduling this plan for an upcoming event, once the coronavirus is under control and travel returns to normal," reads the announcement (via GameSpot).

The list of companies that will not appear on PAX East 2020 is growing every day. In addition to the entities mentioned above, it includes Sony, Square Enix and Capcom. The coronavirus also influences other industry events, such as Game Developers Conference (EA and Sony, among others, resigned from the event) and Mobile World Congress (the fair was cancelled by the organizers).

It is worth recalling that the number of infected and coronavirus victims can be traced on a map prepared by scientists from Johns Hopkins University.
