Civ 6 Fans Envy Features of New Competitor

Announced the day before yesterday, Ara: History Untold seems to be the next significant competitor to Civilization. The game will offer, among other things, the ability to create your own commander.

During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, a new 4X strategy was announced - Ara: History Untold. Players quickly hailed it as a competitor to the well-known Civilization series. What's more, the option to choose leaders in Ara makes the players curious.

Choose your own leader

As noted by Reddit user oblivicorn there is quite an interesting description of one of the features on the official website of Ara: History Untold. The title will enable us to lead a nation through different characters, such as Safona, Nefertiti or George Washington. In addition, the game will also include the option to create our own commander.

Of the figures listed, the biggest surprise was, of course, Safona. As you might guess, the Greek poetess had little to do with politics during her lifetime. This makes her a rather unusual choice for a leader of a nation.

However, players have pointed out that Civilization features Ghandi as a leader, which in a sense justifies the inclusion of other historical figures in Ara.

"I don't mind leaders who never led a state but are still significant to their culture or history. I would love to see Sacagawea leading the Shoshone for example, or Juana Inés de la Cruz leading Mexico, or even Imhotep as the Egyptian leader.

Like others said, if Gandhi can be a leader, so can a lot of important historical figures," wrote AlphatheAlpaca.

My own character

What the Civilization community liked about Ara the most, is the option to create your own leader. As players point out in the comments, the almost complete lack of personalization in Firaxis Games' titles is a sore spot. For this reason, watching the competitors' approach gives them hope that Civilization 7 will be a bit richer in this aspect.

"The almost complete lack of personalization in Civ VI was a bummer for me, so I'm glad to see a custom leader. Remember that in Civ VI you couldn't even rename cities? Surprising choice," wrote JaesopPop.

"Custom leaders mixing and matching traits would be interesting. I vaguely remember an earlier civ game doing something like that - maybe 2 or 3?," wrote winkandthegun.

Ara: History Untold

But before the players have a chance to test Ara: History Untold for themselves it will be insiders who will do so. They will gain access to the title later this year. You can sign up for the insiders program on the game's website. Link below.

Precise release date pf Ara: History Untold is not known. We know that on the day of its debut the game will also appear in the Game Pass subscription.
