Civilization 6 Update Introduces Dog Petting, New Units and Maps

Civilization VI has received its final free update of the season, introducing new units, maps, and gameplay changes.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Civilization VI has received another free update;
  • It introduces three new units, four maps and numerous changes to the gameplay balance;
  • From now on we can also instruct our scouts to pet their dog.

Civilization VI has just received its final update of the season. It is available to all players, regardless of whether they have the New Frontier pass. It introduces many changes that affect the gameplay. The game has been enriched with three new units, four maps and numerous balance fixes.

We can now use trebuchets, heavy infantry and line infantry in the game. The first of the units is the long-awaited medieval siege machine. In the technology tree, it is positioned between catapults and bombards. Man-at-Arms, on the other hand, is a new type of melee units, which follows Swordsman. Line infantry, on the other hand, will be seen on the battlefield when we upgrade the arquebusiers. Some of the above units are of course replaced by troops unique to specific nations.

The update also adds a selection of new maps. They will appeal especially to those who prefer realistic locations. We can now play on Giant Earth, Giant Earth with historical starting positions, Large Mediterranean and Mediterranean with historical starting positions maps.

What's more, the developers have made numerous changes to the gameplay balance. Their list is very long and varied. Some of the fixes are just small adjustments to income from unique fields, buildings or bonuses of individual nations. Some of the nations, however, have undergone much larger changes that can definitely affect the gameplay.

Spain is from now on a nation that gains even more from foreign trade. The nation has also received bonuses that encourage the creation of overseas colonies. The Spanish Inquisition is now even more powerful. The Mapuche, on the other hand, have gained even more bonuses for reducing the loyalty of their opponents' cities. They are also more effective against countries that enjoyed a golden age. In addition to this, almost all other civilizations in the game have been changed to a greater or lesser extent.

It's also worth mentioning that we can now instruct our scouts to pet their dog. For dog lovers, this is probably the most important change in the game. In addition, the creators have changed the stats of some units and improved the interface. The AI will also function better now. Traditionally, as in every update, the developers have also fixed many small bugs that were present in Civilization VI.
