CoD: Black Ops Cold War Beta Release Date and Details on Multiplayer

Treyarch revealed the online mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War. We will test the new and traditional elements in the game in October.

The skin of operator Woods is a pre-order bonus in Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War.

Today, during a special stream, Treyarch revealed details about the multiplayer mode in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War. Apart from information about novelties in gameplay mechanics, available modes and technical aspects, the schedule of beta tests, planned for October, was also presented. As in the case of last year's Modern Warfare, they will take place in several phases and with priority for Sony platform owners. The detailed schedule of the closed and open beta tests is as follows:

  • October 8-10 - only for owners of pre-orders on PS4;
  • October 10-12 - open beta for everyone on PS4;
  • October 15-17 - open beta for all on PS4 and for owners of pre-orders on PC and Xbox One;
  • October 17-19 - open beta for everyone.
Multiplayer in the new CoD will take us to various Cold War hot spots.

And the very essence of online clashes in the new CoD will provide us with a similar dose of emotions as always, i.e. fast, dynamic gameplay, in which reflexes are more important than tactics. A new feature is the VIP escort mode. A minimap and a health bar over the opponents will return, although as an option - we will be able to turn them off. Again, we'll see Theatre Mode to watch replays, and one of the biggest changes will be scorestreaks, which will now not be reset by death during in combat. A cooldown system for every streak is to prevent spamming AoE attacks.

The devs also boasted about the integration of CoD: Black Ops - Cold War with Call of Duty: Warzone. Despite the changes and novelties that will appear there after the release of the game, players will keep their progress and all the weapons, operators and cosmetic elements they have acquired so far. Cold War will also be the first cross-gen game to enable gameplay between the current and upcoming generation of consoles. The online gameplay in the new Call of Duty will be complement by Zombie mode, but more details will be revealed. Let's recall that the game's launch is scheduled for November 13, 2020, which is only three days after the release of next generation Xbox consoles.
