Company of Heroes 3 Devs Boast of Improved Graphics

Relic Entertainment has released a video from Company of Heroes 3, showing off the improvements in the realistic representation of vehicles and characters that the strategy game will offer.

Relic Entertainment shared a new video from the RTS Company of Heroes 3 (posted below). It focuses on showing the attention to the authenticity of the visuals.

The footage is impressive. In the opinion of many players the previous two installments of the series, namely Company of Heroes and Company of Heroes 2 are still unsurpassed in the strategy genre in such respects as vehicle behavior and soldier animations. New video shows that with CoH3 Relic Entertainment wants to once again raise the bar in these areas.

Thanks to the video footage, we learned that:

  1. A new feature prepared by the devs is a special shader for vehicles, which will simulate dirt, depending on the terrain on which a given unit moves. For example, looking at a tank, it will be possible to guess the route it has taken on the map.
  2. In comparison to previous installments the visual damage system will also be greatly improved.. For example, bullet marks will appear on armor.
  3. Big changes have been made to the character models. Now caps, helmets, jackets and even patches on uniforms are to be separate elements, which developers will be able to change quickly. This will enable the team to provide a much greater variety of soldiers on the battlefield. The game will also ensure that their clothing reflects the specific unit to which they belong.
  4. We can also expect improved animations. Soldiers will, for example, raise their heads to look at passing aircraft, and their posture will convey nervousness when they are close to an enemy. They will also react more realistically to explosions and gunfire.

Company of Heroes 3 is coming exclusively to PC. The game is to be released this year.
