Second part of the highly successful military real-time strategy. Title was developed by Relic Entertainment and released by the SEGA company. Action of Company of Heroes 2 is once again set in the time of World War II. This time, however, players have the opportunity to take part in the events that took place on the Eastern Front.
“Company of Heroes 2” is the second installment of the RTS series that takes place during World War II. It was created by Relic studio accountable for the whole series. The studio is also known for many other great games, e.g. “Homeworld” or “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War”.
This time the players are taken back to the times of World War II, to once again stand and fight as a troop commander. The players command Red Army troops (Eastern Front) trying to fend off the Nazis. The game begins with operation Barbarossa in the spring of 1941 to end in Berlin in 1945.
“Company of Heroes 2” presents the best elements of its predecessor. It is a RTS game with strong tactical elements; headquarters development is a secondary issue. At the same time the developers have introduced numerous improvements. Cover system has been completely rebuilt – soldiers make smart use of all kinds of covers. Moreover, they can quickly storm the enemy troops by jumping over low walls without wasting time trying to flank anybody. The vehicle mechanics and their animation have been improved as well – tanks omit the trees and do not block the infantry, a feature that improves the action on the battlefield. The mobility of units depends heavily on weather conditions – during blizzard soldiers cover their faces from falling snow and move much slower. If you do not protect your men against the cold, the chill can kill them.
The game offers complex multiplayer mode – you can fight for the Third Reich or Red Army. Matches are played on different maps, both winter and summer and up to 8 people (4 vs. 4) may be involved. Moreover, the game allows you to unlock special newsletters increasing combat capabilities of your troops, new commanders (doctrines), vehicle skins, etc.
Visually, the game looks much better than the previous part owing to new Essence 3.0 engine. It offers increased number of environment and unit details and more advanced physics that enables you to destroy every element of the map.

A third stand-alone expansion for Company of Heroes 2. It was developed by the Relic Entertainment studio, creators of the base game and the two previous expansions. As in the case of the Western Front Armies add-on, developers focused mainly on the multiplayer mode and added British Armed Forces to network game. Along with it developers provided the players with 15 new units, 6 commanders with various abilities, and 8 new maps depicting historical places of World War II. It is worth noting that the authors also included the cultural differences that were present in the British Army, and that we can develop technology tree in two ways, with emphasis on either its offensive or defensive aspects. In contrast to previous expansions, The British Forces features also a number of cosmetic improvements in graphics and animations as well as improved balance between various factions.

As the subtitle of the add-on suggests, in the game we return to the Western Front of World War II during the famous German counter-offensive in the Ardennes. In contrast to the first expansion that focused on multiplayer mode, this time the developers decided to concentrate on the single player campaign. During 18 subsequent missions telling a single, coherent story we take charge of the American units fighting against the forces of Nazi Germany. Game develops dynamically depending on our decisions, and the key to success is to gain experience, plan tactically and wisely manage a very limited supply of people and equipment. Technical aspects of the game remained unchanged, but the developers decided to introduce three new American companies with unique officers.

The first major standalone expansion for Company of Heroes 2, a popular war strategy game from Relic Entertainment. Contrary to the vanilla game, which focuses on the Russian-German struggle on the Eastern Front, the add-on takes us to the West, letting us assume command over two completely new armies that so far were only available in DLCs. We may lead either the US Army or the German Oberkommando. Each side received new, previously unavailable abilities and enhancements as well as strategic and tactical capabilities. The gameplay was enriched by the introduction of a reworked progression system. There are also new types of units, characteristic of the aforementioned sides of the conflict, to choose from. Despite the fact that The Western Front Armies is dedicated to multiplayer gameplay, it is also possible to compete against the AI.
