A decade after the release of Resident Evil: Revelations 2, a Polish mod finally fixed the disastrous mouse controls in the PC version of the game.

A few weeks ago marked the 10th anniversary of the release of Resident Evil: Revelations 2. However, to this day, Capcom has not bothered to fix the disastrous mouse controls in the PC version of the game. Only now, a modder Dawid Freeman has addressed this issue by creating the Raw Mouse Input Fix mod.

The entire problem lies in the fact that the game does not offer native raw mouse input. Instead, the mouse is only used to emulate an analog stick on a gamepad. As a result, the game feels more like playing on an emulator with a fan-added mouse control option rather than a traditional PC production.

Raw Mouse Input Fix remedies this by introducing true raw mouse input (free from any acceleration). The author also normalized the camera sensitivity and removed all dead zones. As a result, Resident Evil: Revelations 2’s controls finally function like in a proper PC production.

As the autor himself explains:

This is the only game in the series with bad mouse input and since I am a big Resident Evil fan I just had to fix it for myself. Someone tried to fix it a long time ago but that fix was bad and broken and i understand why. Capcom made a lot of AI code tied to camera values and also some black magic with character switching where a single memory address have 2 cameras switching every 1ms. It was a nightmare to reverse engineer all of that code but after failing 10 times I finally figured it out!

PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 was released in February 2015. If you want to play this title on PC today, it’s also worth installing the Fusion Fix mod, which resolves many other game issues and allows disabling the FPS limit.
