Cyberpunk 2077 has been updated on Steam - it is now „verified” on Steam Deck, which means it should be running smoothly.
Supporters of "big" mobile gaming have a reason to celebrate - starting today Cyberpunk 2077 is "verified" for compatibility with Steam Deck. Admittedly, previously it was possible to fire up the title on Valve's portable device, but verified means that it is now better optimized.
In general, games on Steam can have one of three Steam Deck compatibility statuses: "unsupported," "playable" and "verified." The first of these means that parts of or entire game does not work on the device. If a title is "playable" it may require manual configuration of graphics settings (so that it doesn't stutter), in addition to the fact that the game's text is sometimes small and difficult to read. In the case of Cyberpunk 2077 it is the fixing of this shortcoming on Steam Deck that seems to matter most. In addition to this, verification means for the game that:
To date, only two CD Projekt games have been verified on Valve's device , namely The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Blood War: The Witcher Tales. As for the other games in The Witcher series, the first part has a playable status, and the second is unsupported on Steam Deck.
Updated status of Cyberpunk 2077 could be a good opportunity for Steam Deck owners to return to Night City, especially since the first, and only expansion for the game, Phantom Liberty is inbound.
