Dark and Darker - Fighter Build and Guide [February Playtest]

In Dark and Darker the main goal is to battle other players and collect interesting rewards. The players have many unique classes at their disposal. In this guide we describe the strengths and weaknesses of the Fighter class, as well as provide a list of skills and perks.

Fighter's strengths and weaknesses

The biggest advantage of this class is that it can use most weapons, such as spears, blades and swords. In addition, it has quite a high movement speed, which is, however, dependent on the character's armor. It is also an easy class to use, so it is recommended for new players.

This class, however, has some disadvantages as well. These include high dependence on gear and the fact that the Fighter cannot cast any spells, so the player must be focused solely on close combat.

Fighter Build – Skills

Fighter has as many as six skills. However, this class can only use two of them at the same time. At this point, these are the skills available for this class:

1. Adrenaline Rush – your character's attack speed is increased by 25% for 8 seconds. After this effect ends, your attack and movement speed will be reduced for 6 seconds.
2. Breakthrough – a cleansing skill that causes all debuffs that impose a slowdown to be removed from your character.
3. Second Wind – with this ability, you will renew 50% of your health in 12 seconds. In addition, it eliminates the negative effect of Adrenaline Rush.
4. Sprint – for a brief moment, your character runs much faster.
5. Taunt – increases aggro value by 50% on all monsters within 7.5m. It also increases defense by 15% for 8 seconds.
6. Victory Strike – the next attack will deal an additional 20% weapon damage. If you manage to kill the enemy with this attack, you will regain 5% of your maximum health.

Your character is pretty slow because of a heavy armor, so pick Sprint to make up for that. Your second skill should be Second Wind. Health is very valuable, especially if you play solo (without a cleric).

Fighter Build – Perks

In Dark and Darker you can equip a perk every 5 levels. This means that you will be able to use four perks at the same time, because the maximum level you can reach at this point is 20. These are abilities that passively strengthen your character. Below is the list of perks available for Fighter:

1. Barricade – your character's defense rating increases by 15% if you are in defense stance. This stat affects the reduction of physical damage.
2. Combo Attack – you receive 10% physical attack power for each attack that hits within 3 seconds.
3. Counterattack – successful defense causes you to receive increased movement speed and attack speed by 10% for 3 seconds.
4. Defense Expert – you receive an additional 10% armor rating.
5. Dual Wield – equipping weapons in both hands causes your character's attack speed to be increased by 15%.
6. Projectile Resistance – reduces the projectile damage received by 10%.
7. Shield Expert – if you are in defensive stance, your movement speed is increased by 10%.
8. Swift – reduces base movement speed penalty from equipped armor by -20%. Not applicable to additional modifiers.
9. Weapon Mastery – with this perk, you will be able to use all primary and secondary weapons. There will be a 20% physical damage reduction penalty for all non-native weapons.

Fighter has many useful perks. First of all you should pick Weapon mastery. Thanks to this perk you will be able to use bows. It is very useful (especially for solo players) because many opponents are rangers. This is also connected with the next important ability – Projectile Resistance. You can’t forget also about Combo Attack, it is highly recommended with fast weapons. If you want to concentrate on your armor, equip Defense Expert and Swift. These perks are excellent with heavy gear.
