No Days Gone 2, We'll Get a New Uncharted Instead, Claims Jason Schreier

Sony-owned studio Bend - the devs of Days Gone - has been pulled from the IP they developed. The sequel to their game will not be made, and instead, we get a continuation of Naughty Dog's Uncharted.

As we can learn from Jason Schreier's report published on Bloomberg, Bend - Sony's developer known for the action game Days Gone - tried to present a sequel project of the aforementioned title, but it was rejected. This means, more or less, that we probably won't have a chance to play Days Gone 2, because the title simply won't be made. Instead, we are to receive another Uncharted from Naughty Dog.

What is the reason for Sony rejecting the Days Gone sequel project? After all, the game sold well. The reasons behind Bend being taken off the IP released in 2019 are not entirely known, it is possible that it was about the lengthy development time of the first installment and its poor reception by critics. Another potential motive is Sony's unhealthy fixation on big titles, as evidenced by the recent closure of Sony Japan and plans to develop a remake of the first installment of Uncharted. Further proof of this is the fact that the members of Bend have been reassigned to Naughty Dog, where they split into two teams to work on a new multiplayer game and the next installment of Uncharted.

Bend took the move rather hard. Its dissatisfaction was no doubt exacerbated by fears of a merger with Naughty Dog, and some of the team quickly submitted an official request to be separated from their work with the larger developer. Acceptance of the letter came a month later, and Bend's splinter team set about developing something new and on their own.

Days Gone will soon appear on PC.
