Dead Island 2 Will Get Two Expansions; First Details Revealed

Dambuster and Deep Silver have announced two major story expansions for Dead Island 2.

Dambuster has revealed details about the upcoming paid expansions for Dead Island 2.

Two major story DLCs are planned.

  1. The first of these is titled Haus. It will be released in the last quarter of this year. The expansion will tell the story of a techno-cult founded by a billionaire to enable himself to survive the zombie apocalypse in luxury and with a solid dose of debauchery.
  2. The second expansion is the SOLA Festival, which will debut in the second quarter of 2024. The DLC will revolve around the eponymous music festival, organized to provide Los Angeles partygoers with a good time while raising money for environmental causes.
  3. In parallel, the game will be developed via free updates. It has just received a patch introducing a set of new skins and cosmetic items.

Dead Island 2 launched on April 21, 2023. The title was released on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

The game proved to be a major success. Within the first two days of its release, sales exceeded one million copies, and shortly thereafter the result rose to 2 million. This is the best debut in the history of Deep Silver. The game is doing much better than the publisher expected.

The Embracer group, which owns Deep Silver has recently been having financial problems, resulting in the cancelation of some projects and the closure of some studios. However, given the success of Dead Island 2Dambuster is unlikely to be affected by these reductions.
