Diablo 2: Resurrected Won't be Ready For Release? Beta Raises Concerns Among Players

Early access beta of Diablo II: Resurrected is still available. Player feedback suggest, however, that the technical condition of Blizzard's game leaves a lot to be desired.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Early access beta of Diablo 2: Resurrected continues;
  2. Those who have already had the opportunity to play the title complain about a large number of bugs;
  3. Some players wonder if the game will be ready on the planned release date.

Early access beta of Diablo II: Resurrected has been going on since August 13. All who pre-ordered either the base game or the Prime Evil Collection edition have until tomorrow to see for themselves what the developers have in store for the refreshed version of the iconic hack'n'slash game. Those who have already played the game have a lot of reservations about the game's condition.

In the thread dedicated to Diablo 2: Resurrected on Reddit, players exchange their opinions on what's in the beta. It can be concluded, that with a little over a month to go until the release, there's still a lot of bugs in the game.

"The game looks great, but there's so many little bugs that you encounter on a normal A1-A2 playthrough that it's clear this isn't going to be ready in a month. Things like map problems, animation bugs, NPC/vendor bugs, chat bugs, lobby bugs, mobs attacking through walls, etc.

Then there's some nontrivial problems like the lag/delay on hit, console version lobbies, ladder in general, assets loading at different times.

The fact that they're only exposing some characters and 2 acts in 1 difficulty a month away from release already isn't promising. Considering the state of the game we saw in alpha, it seems like this game could use another 6 months at least to bake, if not a year.

As a veteran, just running through the 2 acts I reported nearly 3 dozen bugs. And that's in about the 10% of the content they're confident enough to expose. This isn't something they'll be able to polish in a month, especially considering the rate of progress we've seen between the alpha and now."

"My biggest issue was the chat functionality was just a confusing mess. As far as I could tell, there is no way to whisper a stranger.

The social aspect of D2, from just hanging in channels to negotiating trades, shouldnt be overlooked. Currently, it's a mess."

To sum up the picture which emerges from the quoted opinions: we are dealing with a game, that is clearly not ready.. Will it be so on the day of release? It's doubtful, but remember that there's still the open beta, which will take place on August 20-23; maybe by then at least some of the bugs can be eliminated.

Players praise the game's faithfulness to the original; Diablo 2: Resurrected seems to be following the same path that video games followed two decades ago, which will be a plus for hardcore fans of the series. The question remains as to whether or not Resurrected will be able to attract newcomers with its old-school feel? Time will tell.
