Do you need to be always online in Split Fiction? Not necessarily
Despite the fact that Split Fiction is a coop game, it does not mean that it has to be always online. There is a way to play without internet connection.
It is not easy to deliver one great game after another. Even though Hazelight has only released 3 productions – A Way Out, It Takes Two, and now Split Fiction, each of them is better than the previous one. As the developers are making it easier and easier to play this solely co-op experience by implementing crossplay and even cross-platform Friend’s Pass, not everyone has an option or stable enough internet connection to enjoy this title online. Many players would like to give this amazing game a shot, though they would rather do it completely locally. Does this production follow recent trends to require always online internet access? There is a way out of this situation.
Does Split Fiction require being always online?
Packed with many pop-culture references, Split Fiction draws in fans, promising an unforgettable cooperation experience. Since a lot of games nowadays require being always online, some players can be concerned if they do not have reliable internet connection, very limited, metered one, or both. However, the latest Hazelight release does not follow those trends, being very consumer friendly.
If you would like a cozy journey without necessity of playing with someone over the internet, there is such a possibility – Split Fiction offers local offline mode. All it takes is to choose “Play Local” option located right in the main menu, plug additional controller to your machine, decide which one of you will take on the adventure as Mio, and who will impersonate Zoe, and that’s it! No network connection required, and the whole journey can be experienced entirely within the boundaries of your very room.
Josef Fares and his studio made sure to not only deliver a great story, but also technologically advance their production, even though DLSS might be a missing feature. As the game is not available on older generation consoles like PS4 and Xbox One, Switch might be an exception in the future, as it is a perfect device for coop experiences. Have fun!
