Dying Light 2's New Sizable Update Removes Denuvo

The sizable update 1.9.0 arrived to Dying Light 2 today. Techland is celebrating the game's near anniversary of release by, among other things, getting rid of the controversial Denuvo DRM software.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human owners can now download a sizable "community update" that is available on all platforms. It adds a couple of new features to the game, as well as fixes a ton of bugs. However, perhaps the most interesting news is that along with the new patch Dying Light 2 has lost its Denuvo anti-piracy protection. This DRM system is not very liked by gamers due to its potentially negative impact on game performance. Interestingly, Techland's work was the only game released in 2022 in which Denuvo was cracked.

Novelties introduced by the patch

Here's a look at notable novelties that went into Dying Light 2 along with update 1.9.0 - its full description can be found here.

  1. Legend levels have been introduced, enabling the player to progress even faster.
  2. Cross-platform gameplay is available for Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
  3. Devs added features known from the first Dying Light - dynamic rivalries.
  4. Dying Light 2 on PC now supports Nvidia's DLSS 3 technology.
  5. Animations related to body physics and artificial intelligence reactions have been improved - injured infected will behave more realistically.

There are also quite a few fixes that can make the game either easier and harder to play. Among other things, the bleeding time has been doubled, and the ability to revive 45 seconds after dying near another player has been added. A potentially difficulty-increasing issue, meanwhile, is the fixing of an exploit that allows for immunities to be abused after repeated healing.

Anniversary event

In a few days, on February 4, it will be a year since the release of Dying Light 2. To mark the occasion, an event called "Bloody Anniversary" has hit the game. During it you will be able to earn items from the Raisa pack for completing various tasks. Just for participating in the event, one will receive the Blood Anniversary Talisman. The event will end on February 8.
