Fans Annoy Gears Developer. „Please Stop Asking Me to Bring Back Games That I Don’t Have the Rights To”

Cliff Bleszinski has had enough of fans writing to him regarding the return of games to which the American developer has long lost the rights. Could this be the result of rumors of a revamp of the first installments of the Gears series?

Sometimes, nostalgia and the desire to return to the "good, old days" can obscure simple facts for players. Cliff Bleszinski discovered this and is clearly annoyed by fans requesting his return to "games to which he has no rights" (via X).

The famous developer didn't specify which titles fans are persistently asking him about. The obvious candidate is the Gears series - undoubtedly the most famous work of Bleszinski. Recently, there have been rumors about the upcoming announcement of a new installment of the series, but also about a collection that will include refreshed versions of older Gears installments.

It is highly probable that Cliff Bleszinski is referring to this series in his comment. He lost the rights to this brand a long time ago - it happened when he left Epic Games studio (in 2012). Currently, the Gears brand belongs to Microsoft.

Of course, it's possible to speculate that Bleszinski is being asked by fans to revive other games that were made with his involvement. The dev himself didn't hide the fact that he would like to see a new installment of the Jazz Jackrabbit series, currently owned by Epic Games (via Rock Paper, Shotgun). However, the comments section under the developer's post clearly shows that most internet users also suspect that fans are asking Bleszinski to return to Gears (or "insisting" on it in their responses).
