Thanks to modders Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is no longer associated not only with medieval times, but also with feudal Japan. Project Shokuho is still under development, but it can already be suspected that it will win the hearts of players.

Feudal Japan in Bannerlord

There is still a long way to go before the mod is completed. The developers stated on their Discord that the project's release will take place "a few months after Bannerlord leaves early access.". Nevertheless, Shokuho Studio's channel, dedicated to the modification, presents the first gameplay footage.

"Shokuho is a total conversion mod for the video game Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. Set in feudal Japan in 1568, you will play as a samurai roaming across the turbulent Sengoku Jidai, right after the vicious Onin War. Play to expand and conquer the vast islands of Japan to establish your name and build a legacy worthy of remembrance in this warring state era," reads the mod's description on moddb.com.

Already at first glance it is clear that Shokuho looks amazing. The trailer shows various units, bloody battles and conquests. In addition, the map, which features the estates of notable houses of feudal Japan, is quite impressive.

Great expectations for Shokuho

Shokuho reminds fans of the series of one of the best mods for Mount and Blade: Warband, namely Gekokujo. It is another total conversion mod, which transformed Calradia into Japan and was very popular among the players. It is safe to say that the bar for the creators of Shokuho is therefore set quite high.

"Gekokujo was one of the best mods for Warband, I can't wait to see what the future will bring!," SombraD wrote.

"I loved every second of the trailer, but when the map was shown.... I had to pick myself up from the floor! The map is the most important part for me. I've been patiently waiting for news about Japan conversions for this game, as they were my favorite in Warband. Keep it up!," Mark Canham wrote.

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord will leave early access on October 25, this year, so Shokuho we can expect most likely in early 2023. If you're interested in the modification's progress, the developers are sharing it on a regular basis on the Discord server, a link to which can be found below.
