Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure takes after the best of LucasArts

Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure – the first thing that gets your attention is probably the word “Cthulhu”. Then you watch the trailer and discover that it is a classic point-and-click comedy adventure game that resembles the Monkey Island series a lot. The sense of humor, the interface, the frame by frame animation, and the dialogues – all is just like you would expect from a LucasArts adventure game from the 90s, the golden age of point-and-click. Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure is being developed by an indie studio from Romania and is gearing up for a Kickstarter campaign starting April 5, 2016. They even have a playable demo, which you can download here.

Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure is a comedy story inspired by the Lovecraftian Cthulhu Mythos. The game is set in the present where dangerous cults are desperately seeking for the Necronomicon in order to awaken Cthulhu. As a matter of fact, one of the game’s heroes, named Buzz, has the grimoire, and it turns his cat into a nasty, talking feline companion. She may help Buzz with some of the puzzles, provided that she’s in the mood. Another playable character is Don, a private detective, who introduces over the top, Chandleresque noir elements to the story.

Gibbous breaks the fourth wall pretty often.

The developer promises that every combination of any two items will result in a unique reaction – usually a character’s comment, which will be nice to hear, as dialogues are both fully-voiced and witty. See more details on the official website.
