Gothic Remake Devs With Bad News on Release Date
THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive have reported that Gothic Remake has no scheduled release date. Does this mean that - contrary to the placeholder accompanying preorders - the game will not be released in 2023?
Work on Gothic Remake is progressing - as evidenced, in a way, by the morerat concept art presented on Friday - and players have more and more questions about the title. Many of them were answered by composer of the game's music, Kai Rosenkranz, and not much later the game's preorders launched. The listings available online state an approximate release date of 2023.
We have repeatedly stressed that this is a so-called placeholder. What follows, Gothic Remake does not at all have to be released in 2023 - although, of course, it may be. We will find out only when THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive will announce a specific release date.
It's hard to say when that will happen, because in the game's FAQ updated today on Discord server of the Gothic Community states that: "there is no scheduled release date at this time. It will be announced when the developer and publisher are 100% sure of it." For the same reason, the price of the remake of Gothic - on Steam etc. was not provided (in its place it stands that the title "will be available soon") - although, of course, it apears for preorders.
The rest of the information contained in the updated FAQ coincides with what we already know - the game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4, has nothing to do with the demo version that was made available in 2019, and will be as close to the original as possible in terms of character behavior or the combat system. It has also been confirmed that the actors who provided their voices in the original will be hired for dubbing - if possible, of course, since some of them are already dead.
