- The first add-on for Gwent's Price of Power expasion set is now available;
- It introduces 26 new cards to the game;
- They can be obtained in several different ways.
Although the popularity of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is hardly comparable even with Hearthstone, we should not forget that it has quite a large group of fans. Therefore, CD Projekt RED does not cease in its efforts to expand its free online card game. The latest result of the work had its release today. We're talking about Once Upon a Pyre - the first add-on included in the Price of Power expansion set.
Once Upon a Pyre offers 26 new cards for all factions. Their full overview can be found here. They will enable us not only to invent new strategies that can be used in duels, but also introduce the players to the main theme of the whole set, which is magic and how different factions seek it, fight with it or use it.
As you can guess from the title, the addition focuses primarily on the darker side of magic and the people who use it in The Witcher universe. Here is the official description:
"Magic, like any power, can be a double-edged sword - dangerous for both its victims and its wielder. Many mages and sorceresses were known for bringing endless destruction and suffering, yet even more of them perished upon the pyres stoked by the witch hunters and superstitious folk alike. Truth be told, in a world where horrendous monstrosities lurk around every corner, it can be said that the evilest of monsters often harbor human hearts."
The cards included in the Once Upon a Pyre DLC can be obtained in several ways. The first is by purchasing the season pass. Apart from access to the content of all three expansion packs available as part of Price of Power (the second will appear in August, and the third in October), it offers a number of bonuses such as more than 20 special ornaments and a unique coin: Pyre. There are also options to buy a combo pack and separate card sets for each faction. Finally, nothing stands in the way of producing new cards from the fragments you own or finding them in powerful, faction-dedicated, and neutral barrels. All additional details are available here.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is available on PC and mobile devices with Android and iOS systems.
