The PC version of Hogwarts Legacy is said to suffer from numerous technical issues, according to reviews. Critics point out that Avalanche Software's game is plagued by various glitches and frequent performance drops.

The day has finally arrived. Today, those who pre-ordered the Deluxe version of Hogwarts Legacy, get access to the long-awaited action RPG by Avalanche Software (console gamers play from midnight, and PC gamers will join later today).

The game set in the Harry Potter universe has received very high ratings from critics, however, amidst the sea of praise there have been worrying signs suggesting the poor technical condition of the PC version of the game.

The PC version's problems seem to be confirmed by opinions from Metacritc. It currently shows an average rating of 82/100. In comparison, the PS5 release is rated at 85 points, and the edition for Xbox Series X/S consoles at 89.

Particularly effusive in assessing the condition of Hogwarts Legacy on PC was the German website GameStar, which decided to lower the score for the game by one point - precisely because of technical issues.

Problems, problems of Hogwarts Legacy

A common bug found in Hogwarts Legacy is said to be texture flickering - especially on trees and characters. Added to this are general lighting problems, as well as "aggressive" texture loading in front of players' eyes.

In addition to various glitches, the game is said to have great difficulty maintaining a stable frame rate at more demanding moments on PC. Frequent drops, as well as the occurrence of so-called stuttering, in several locations are supposed to effectively hamper combat or platform challenges.

Critics point out that the poor technical condition of the game on PC is the the biggest pain of the title.

At the same time, some reviewers stress that the game is far from being "unplayable". Moreover, some critics point out that problems of the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy are nothing that can't be dealt with by minor updates - which are most likely already in the pipeline.

Recall that Hogwarts Legacy will officially debut on February 10 on PC, PS5 and XSX/S. Those who decided to preorder the Deluxe edition can enjoy the game starting today (on PC from the evening). PS4 and XOne owners must wait until April 4 for the release, and Nintendo Switch users until July 25.
