Hogwarts Legacy Could be First Major US Best-seller in 15 Years Other Than CoD or Rockstar Game

Hogwarts Legacy remains the biggest bestseller of the year in the US. If the game manages to maintain this position until the end of December, it will have accomplished something we haven't seen in fifteen years.

Hogwarts Legacy, the action adventure game set in the Harry Potter universe, has a good chance to do something special.

  1. According to analyst group NPD, Hogwarts Legacy still remains the best-selling game of the year in the US market.
  2. If the game manages to maintain this position until the end of December, it will be the first biggest US bestseller of the year in fifteen years that is neither part of Call of Duty nor was produced by Rockstar Games.
  3. The fight for the leadership position will be fierce, as following on the heels of Hogwarts Legacy is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Despite poor reviews the game is selling very well. A month was enough for the title to become the second best-selling game of the year in the US market, besting such hits as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Madden NFL 24 or Diablo IV.
  4. The last year when the biggest bestseller was not a Call of Duty game nor a Rockstar production, was 2008, when the U.S. market was conquered by Wii Play.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Hogwarts Legacy. It's a very cool game and definitely more deserving of the top position than the disappointing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Recall that Hogwarts Legacy was released on February 10 on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners had to wait until May for its release, and last month the Nintendo Switch edition was released.
