It's finally here! Warzone 2, the best F2P battle royale, will be released on November 16th at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT on all platforms along with Season 01 for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. After landing on Verdansk and Caldera in Warzone 1, Warzone 2 will take us to Al Mazrah. Although the core gameplay has remained the same, Warzone 2 differs from its predecessor in many details, and one of them is how to get your loadout.

On the Al Mazrah map, you'll be able to play the classic battle royale, solo, duo, trios, and quads modes, as well as the exciting new DMZ mode. However, there will be no Plunder and Rebirth Island modes known from Warzone 1.

Does Warzone 2 have loadouts?

Every match in Warzone 2 starts the same way – we jump from the cargo plane to the selected place on the map and land, equipped only with X12 Handgun and two armor plates. To survive, we need to find better weapons and equipment. That's why loadouts have become so crucial to the game.

Loadout is simply a pre-set character class build, which consists of our favorite weapon with attachments, selected field upgrades (trophy system, dead silence, munitions box, etc.), lethal equipment (frag grenade, proximity mine, Semtex, drill charge), tactical equipment (flash grenade, stun, heartbeat sensor etc.) and, of course, the perks (the fan-favorite perks are back, although they have been changed a lot).

Warzone was the first battle royale game to introduce loadouts. At some point in the walk, we could use the store and spend our previously collected money on your best loadout. We simply chose a place and after a while a drop containing our favorite weapons (which we had to level up, for example, in Call of Duty Modern Warfare's multiplayer) fell from the sky.

Before Warzone 2's release, a lot of people wondered if there will be loadouts at all and how they will work - yes, loadouts are in Warzone 2, although the method of obtaining them has changed slightly.

Currently, there are two ways to get loadouts in Warzone 2 and – in a sense – there is a third option.

  1. Loadout can be obtained during loadout drops – after some time on the map, between the collapse of the second and sixth circle, loadouts will fall from the sky. Anyone can pick them up – this distinguishes them from the drops in Warzone 1. So be careful, because other players also see that a loadout has fallen from the sky and can try to get it.
  2. Stronghold assault – stronghold is a place on the map that is guarded by AI-controlled bots. If you don't want to wait for the loadout to drop to get your favorite, best weapon faster, you need to attack the stronghold and defeat all the bots. After that, you will be rewarded with your best loadout. Interestingly, there are also black sites similar to stronghold – by completing the task associated with the black site, you will be rewarded with cosmetic elements, including weapon blueprints.

Can I buy a loadout in the Warzone 2's shop?

No, in Warzone 2 you can't buy your loadout the way you could in Warzone 1, or at least you can't buy all of it. The shops scattered around the Warzone 2 map can sell your custom main weapon (that is, one that you can modify and prepare in the game's main menu). This is a big simplification, but at the same time a huge difference compared to the previous game – you will not get perks or lethal equipment in the store. You will have to get them either by performing a task in the stronghold, or waiting for an air drop.

That's all when it comes to loadouts in Warzone 2. We will update this guide and keep you informed of any changes to the game.
