Humankind Devs Prioritize Modding Tools

The devs of Humankind Strategy assure that enabling creation of mods for their game remains an essential issue. However, the work is not progressing as fast as they assumed.

Developers from Amplitude are trying to maintain the community's interest in the strategy game Humankind. In a recent post they thanked players for the positive response, and announced the addition of modding tools as soon as possible. In doing so, they stressed that while they have not changed their plans, time has not worked in their favor.

Since February we knew that the game's modding features wouldn't be available at launch. Developers are still unable to say when they will be added. All the more so because they are working on patches in parallel, the fruit of which is the beta update available on Steam, fixing such persistent issues with shortage of resources (read more about it here).

Amplitude only revealed that the tools will appear with one of the upcoming patches. Their first version will have some limitations, but over time the players will receive new opportunities. If the announcements from February prove to be true, users will be able to, for example, freely change the balance of units, influence cultures and add their own items to the technology tree.

At the same time, the Humankind devs remind us about the map editor available in their title, which enables players to show their creativity. The team also encourages to take part in a special contest. Interesting prizes await the authors of the most interesting map, including a unique PC made by Intel.

Since childhood, he wanted to write a novel, although he is definitely better at creating characters than plot. That's probably why he fell in love with RPGs (paper and virtual). He was raised in the 90s, to which he would gladly return. Loves Tarantino movies, thanks to Mad Max and the first Fallout he lost himself in post-apo, and Berserk convinced him to dark fantasy. Today he tries his hand at e-commerce and marketing, while also supporting the Newsroom on weekends, which allows him to continue cultivating old passions.
