Hyper Light Breaker Early Access Roadmap Revealed
Heart Machine, the developer behind Hyper Light Breaker, has revealed its early access roadmap for the next few months, including a new playable character.

Heart Machine, the developers of Hyper Light Breaker, have announced their update roadmap for early access. After a rocky start last month, the multiplayer rogue-lite has begun the slow but steady climb towards improving its reputation. Since launching on January 13th, the game has already introduced some much-needed updates to medkits and enemy challenge level. Read our Hyper Light Breaker review for a deep dive.
Hyper Light Breaker content roadmap schedules an update for next week
Next week’s update, scheduled for Tuesday, February 18th, is set to include a lot of changes. Perhaps most exciting for fans of the game, this update will include a new player character. Currently, Hyper Light Breaker only includes three breakers, or player characters. Each character can use any weapon or equipment, but they each have unique abilities to distinguish themselves. The new Breaker has been revealed to be Ravona, a hooded bird-like character with a blue mask and glowing eyes.
This update will also include new holobytes, which are temporary upgrades players can discover in the Overgrowth or purchase from the hub world. New affixes, which are passive abilities added onto weapons. New enemies, and general performance updates, bug fixes, and balances. Heart Machine also plans to rebalance combat. In an interview with GamesRadar+, the developers admit “they overshot” when balancing difficulty for players, as opposed to their inner team. They also plan to improve what was a mostly useless parry, telling GamesRadar+ “Our parry has gone through a lot of changes over the course of development… we have a lot of work going into improving how it works, some of which will be evident in our February update.”
Looking further down the road, Heart Machine has a similar update planned for March, but rather than a new player character, this one will include a new assassin. These are extremely challenging enemies that will start to chase you down if you spend too long in the Overgrowth. In April, players can expect the first major update, which does have a name: The Buried Below Update. This will not only include a new player character, but also a new Crown (or boss), new areas to explore, and more of the basics from other updates as well.
That is all Heart Machine has shared for now. There will be more updates even further into 2025, such as new bosses, new areas, new player characters, and so much more. But those details will likely arrive at a later date. For now, Hyper Light Breaker is well on its way to becoming the game it is meant to be.
