In 2024, a new science fiction TV series from the creators of Game of Thrones was released on Netflix, which quickly became a hit on the platform and remained in the top 10 English-language TV series for seven weeks, only leaving the podium in its sixth week. We are talking about 3 Body Problem, based on the novel by Liu Cixin.

The TV series debuted on Netflix on March 21, 2024, and on May 15 of the same year, 3 Body Problem was renewed for a second season, and later that month, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss confirmed that not only a second season but also a third season would be produced. Unfortunately, work on the new episodes progressed slowly and there was a long silence about them, which made fans wonder what was happening with the show. In May 2025, a year had passed since the announcement of the new season, and the cast had still not entered the set, which began to worry viewers.

So they were delighted to hear the latest announcement – work on the set of season 2 of 3 Body Problem has finally begun or will begin soon, according to What’s on Netflix. Official news has also announced new cast members, confirming that something is finally happening with the sci-fi hit. Claudia Doumit, whom viewers may know from The Boys, will play Captain Van Rijn, while Ellie de Lange, who previously appeared in Run Away, will play Ayla.

Fans enthusiastically welcomed the news that something was finally happening with 3 Body Problem, although they are disappointed that it is only now, as this means that the break between seasons 1 and 2 will be long. Perhaps this problem can be avoided in the next season, as the third series is reportedly to be filmed immediately after the second.

For now, there is no release date for seasons 2 and 3 of 3 Body Problem. Considering that work on the set is just getting underway, we will have to wait a little longer for such announcements.
