Emilia Clarke didn’t take the Game of Thrones ending lightly. She needed a moment to accept the script of the finale.
The widely criticized finale of Game of Thrones shocked not only viewers, but also actors. Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen, talked with EW about her reaction to the end of the long-running adventure. The fate of her character didn’t please a large part of the audience, who were disappointed with how the story they followed for eight seasons was closed.
And what was Clarke's reaction when she learned that Daenerys would not only attack King's Landing and kill thousands of civilians, but also die at the hands of Jon Snow? It turns out that she had to read what was going to happen to her character as many as 7 times to believe it, and then she started crying and had to go for a five-hour walk.
What, what, what, WHAT!? Because it comes out of f**king nowhere. I'm flabbergasted. Absolutely never saw that coming. [...] I cried. And I went for a walk. I walked out of the house and took my keys and phone and walked back with blisters on my feet. I didn't come back for five hours. I'm like, “How am I going to do this?”
Two days later, the actress was on her way to the set. During her first table read with the cast, she was able to see Kit Harington's reaction to their last scene together, who, like Clarke, began to cry. According to the actress' account, Jon Snow actor also couldn’t believe the tragic fate of their characters.
As you can see, it wasn't only fans who had been following Game of Thrones since 2011 who found the story's ending hard to believe, the actors also took a moment to assimilate with what will happen in finale of HBO TV series.
