In Baldur's Gate 3, Volo can earn his place in the party. Not only your character can get his help

It turns out that Volo has an infinite number of artificial eyes in his bag. With one operation, the entire party can receive the gift of seeing hidden enemies, although the procedure itself is not one of the most pleasant.

Baldur’s Gate 3 wouldn’t have achieved such massive success without its interesting and deeply developed characters. Almost everybody knows it at this point, yet it's still worth discussing, especially when the community gets so attached to the companions that they create mods to restore cut content tied to them.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is massive, and it's extremely easy to miss things, including dialogue. It may turn out that missing said dialogue may lock you out from the possibility of joining a legendary guild. Other times, players become so invested in an NPC’s story that they go to extreme lengths - doing things that seem impossible at first, like removing an eye from every single party member.

A one-eyed adventuring party

In the early game, a bard named Volo may join your camp. This quirky gentleman, after a brief conversation, will suggest to help you remove your mind flayer tadpole from your brain. The surgery quickly goes wrong and the character undertaking it loses an eye. In return for his clumsy surgery, Volo will give you an item - an artificial eye with a permanent "see invisibility" buff, letting you see invisible enemies. Shortly afterward, Volo flees the camp - but even that can be handled.

The idea was suggested by a Reddit user. They suggested that before speaking to Volo, players should cast "Hold Person" on him and enter turn-based mode in advance. Thanks to that, before Volo has a chance to escape the camp, every other nearby party member can also interact with him and request the surgery.

This results in every party member getting an artificial eye, which could grant us an advantage in the late game, especially against some really tough opponents.

It's unfortunately not possible to keep him at camp permanently. Once the spell wears off, Volo will make a run for it. Are you wondering why does Volo need so many spare eyes? So did other players, and they found a way to exploit him.

Basically unlimited everything, particularly gold, potions and scrolls since he doesnt permanently run away from camp, is not hostile, and his inventory resets on resting and level up. It kinda breaks the game tbh

Yes, a combination of stealing any good scrolls he happens to have that day, and stealing back stuff you've previously sold him so that you can sell it to him again. It's a safe way to farm gold as you can pick items where you'll only fail if you roll double nat-1 (Advantage).

Volo's constantly respawning inventory, which some players consider an exploit, is how he's supposed to work. Now that you know this, your team can get ridiculously rich - and half-blind.
