Harrison Ford Had One Condition to Return as Indiana Jones; Same Each Time
In an interview, Harrison Ford explained what Lucasfilm had to do to convince him to reprise the role of Indiana Jones four times.
Harrison Ford is undoubtedly a big star. The actor has starred in dozens of films, but he is most associated with the role of Indiana Jones. The latest installment of the archaeologist's adventures is the fifth movie, and the last time on the big screen fans could see this character fifteen years ago in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment Harrison Ford admitted that he agreed to play the archaeologist once again, provided that the screenwriters try to explore new aspects of Indiana Jones. What's more, Ford has made the same demand with every previous sequel, starting with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
"The one thing I asked for in each of those cases was to deepen the character. I wanted to learn more about Indiana Jones. I wanted the things he did to come from his character, nature and experience. I didn't want his achievements to be simply attributed to him like a merit badge."
Unfortunately, Harrison Ford will not play the famous archaeologist again. The Hollywood legend announced in May that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will not only be Jones' last act, but also the end of the series itself. A few days ago the actor admitted that he would rather walk away than "do the same thing over and over again." In turn, his gratitude to fans of the series was evident during his appearances to advertise the movie. The actor thanked the fans and finally said goodbye to the role.
"Thanks for putting up with me. I hope you had a good time. I sure did," Ford said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
However, it is known that the actor has no influence over the label's actions. Although he will not appear as Indiana Jones himself, Lucasfilm may bring the character back to the screen via a spin-off or prequel with a completely different actor.
