Jagged Alliance 3 (JA3) - Haunted Mansion Walkthrough and Ditch Location

Jagged Alliance 3 is full of various interesting missions and encounters. You will meet many unique people on you quest to find the President and bring back some peace to the country. Jagged Alliance 3 - Mines

If you are here, you have probably ventured into sector G8, if not, enter it. You will find there an Abandoned Mansion. There are some Legion soldiers in this location, but it is not your main concern right now, as they are all in the building. You should be worried about mines! They are everywhere. And it is not an exaggeration. You have to take with you someone with high Explosive skill – it is a must. Don’t run but walk slowly. You may even crouch to be sure. Move only a little bit at a time because if you trigger a mine, it will not kill you, but will make a lot of damage and Wounds.

JA3 - Enemies in the mansion

Firstly, it is a good idea to kill enemies in the mansion. Don’t attack through the main doors though. Use ladder at the side of the building. It will allow you to eliminate some enemies stealthily, one by one. Even if not, you will be at an advantageous position, waiting for opponents who will be coming to you using stairs.

JA3 – Mansion investigation

After “cleaning” the mansion, it is time for a small investigation:

1. Interact with the corpse outside of the mansion, near the front door.
2. Now, doors to the nearby cellar will be interactive. Click them.
3. After that go to the fountain in the shape of a hippo. It is also interactive now. Push the animal and it will open the passage.

1. Go to the cellar, search the place. The most important thing is to interact with the table at the end of the location. It will give you another clue.
2. Now, you may leave this place and wait for the night. Go to the map view and skip some time.
3. Return to the location after dark and enter the cellar once again. Talk with the Ghost.

You have now two options:

1. Kill the man, you will gain some EXP and 10 Loyalty with Fleatown. We do not recommend this, as you will lose a little bit of a story and some serious money.
2. Talk with a man and learn more about him. To progress the story tell him about dead soldiers in the mansion (if you have killed them earlier). If you do that, more enemies will come, and they will be waiting for you upstairs. Watch out, as the fight is tricky.

You’re about to experience a very difficult combat. It is because enemies know from the beginning where you are, they are close and, what is more, you are in the open. You can make it easier though.

1. You should take: Medic, Explosive Expert and Marksman with weapon capable of long shots (basically, a sniper). Of course, your team should be bigger if possible. At least 4 people.
2. Have some grenades or something similar to help you.
3. You may prepare the fighting ground earlier. The combat starts in front of the cellar. It is a good idea to mine the surrounding, to at least kill the closest enemies (those with melee weapons) in the first round. Alternatively, throw a grenade at them, and finish them off with guns.
4. Don’t stay at the starting locations, you should withdraw immediately. There is a small solid gazebo behind you. It has some walls, you may hide behind them. Crouch to make it even harder to hit you.
5. When you get to your preferred hiding spot just wait for opponents and kill them with snipers.

JA3 – Ditch location

After the fight, talk to the butler in the mansion. He will tell you the story of this place. What is more, there is something valuable there ($15 000). The Ghost is looking for Ditch, his old employer. If you have someone with Scoundrel perk (for example Fox), you will be able to convince him that his friend is dead. Butler will give you the treasure. You may also decide that you want to find Ditch.

Regardless, of your decision – being honest or Scoundrel, you can find butler’s friend. To do that go to the L12 sector. There is a Hermit in that location who is couching Legion soldiers. He gave them some poisonous mushrooms. You may wait a little bit, and 2 enemies will die, and the rest will start a fight. However, it is a good idea to throw a grenade in the middle of them before the dialog ends and they scatter.

Regardless, the fight should not be difficult, as enemies are rather weak. But you must be careful because they may kill the Hermit.

After the fight, talk with the person. It will come to light that he is Mike Ditch. Tell him about the butler. Now go back to the Ghost and tell the man that his friend is alive. Both of them will unite at Hermit’s hut. Talk with Mike there. The conversation will be a little bit different depending on your decision about money. You will get $15 000 either way.
