Four years were enough for Total War to go from being a game series that ignited the minds of hundreds of thousands of gamers, to a brand with little excitement. The latest installment - Pharaoh - is entertaining barely a handful of fans of the series.

The Total War series no longer generates as much interest as it did even four years ago. Back then, at launch Three Kingdoms was played by more than 190,000 concurrent Steam users. Now Pharaoh is struggling to exceed even 6,000 in the peak.
Total War: Pharaoh launched on PC two days ago via Steam (it's still unavailable in Epic Games Store). On Valve's platform the game was played by a maximum of 5424 people at the same time. Let's point out, however, that the first post-release weekend is just beginning and these numbers can still change.
Developers of Total War at one time also bought the license for Warhammer. As a result of this cooperation, three installments of Total War: Warhammer were released. The activity records of these games on Steam are as follows:
Recall that between Three Kingdoms and Pharaoh, the devs released another part of Total War, which is not the result of cooperation with the Warhammer brand - Troy. It, too, did not gather too many players on Steam around its release. To date, its best score is 4704 players.
However, it should be mentioned that this data is not entirely authoritative. On the day of its release Total War Saga: Troy lived to see an exceptional discount on Epic Games Store, which provided the opportunity to get a free copy of the title for 24 hours after its debut. According to available information as many as 7.5 million Epic Games users took advantage of this offer at the time.
