Gothic and Gothic 2 on Switch Look Worse Than Trailers Because THQ Nordic Lacked Time to Optimize Them

It turns out that the trailers for Gothic and Gothic 2 on Nintendo Switch do not show the actual version of the game. THQ Nordic admitted that it was late in optimizing and implementing some solutions.

Nintendo Switch owners have been playing a dedicated version of Gothic, with the subtitle Classic, for two weeks now and already at the end of November they will be able to enjoy Gothic 2 Complete Classic.

On November 29, a set consisting of the classic game and its expansion, Night of the Raven, will be become available. THQ Nordic seems to be spoiling Switch owners, but it turns out that the whole thing is accompanied by a small issues. In the case of both games the devs failed to complete optimization and implementation of all planned solutions.

Gothic Vanilla

A trailer was published online last week, confirming that Gothic II is heading to Switch. The trailer looks impressive, but, as it turned out, it shows shots from the pre-release version of the game, which included additional visual effects to improve the game's visual layer.

THQ Nordic, in a comment under the video, admitted its mistake (an identical situation also occurred with the trailer of the first game) - the trailers look better than the release versions of the games. The reason is that the publisher did not have time to optimize them. So it was decided to release the games in vanilla (base) version, and additional graphics options are to arrive in both Gothic Classic, as well as Gothic 2 Complete Classic along with the next patch.

This is not a heavy offense, however, if you were expecting visual fireworks from the Switch port, you will have to wait a little longer for them.
